Tribalism
Tribalism: Viva la tribe diatribe.
In the modern, impersonal, dog eat dog world of the oil driven economies it appears that the social structure of tribal life is offering something that corporate run, post village society fails to supply.
To quote Roy Carlson: “The traditional tribe is a relatively small and intimate community when compared with modern western culture. This intimacy provides a level of psychological security. The traditional tribe is culturally homogeneous. This is to say that everyone in the tribe believes in the same things. The social rules are consistent from member to member and modes of behavior, dress, play, and work are the same. This adds to the feeling of security and safety. It leads to a strong sense of self as identified with a particular tribe”.
The image below depicts a glimpse of punk culture, but it might have easily been hippies or bikers or skaters or Goths or skinheads or… perhaps the possibly overlooked executive golf club or martini set, yet maybe even some sports fraternity barbequing their way to an alcohol heaven in their communal attempt to bring together the best of both the modern and the ancient.
Thus neo-tribalism stands as a poignant reminder of the social inadequacies highlighted by the diminishing satisfaction of a society that is increasingly drowning in its own excess. Confused as to their own necessities, the bringing of economic power to the people appears to be of severely limited value amidst an emotionally deprived, stainless steel and concrete melting pot of individuals whose actual requirements dwell in an altogether different direction.
The image itself has been optimized for use on the web by saving it as a gif to lend to it the primitive touch of the less than sophisticated world of punk. The intent here is to portray a potpourri of punk tribal artifacts visually complimented by the face of a New Guinean warrior in battle dress simply to decorate the scene with the authentic "real mcoy" tribe member stereotyped within the mass-imagination of the denizens of the western world. We are hoping to portray a somewhat sequential photoshop essay with no particular central image taking pride of place, perhaps the burning A for anarchy symbol, the logo of the punk tradition.

Speed
Professor Speedii Gonzales:
The Speed image below cannot warrant a really long speil (in view of the space already "wasted" in diatrible as well as the fact that it represents a less contentious social issue than the punk tribalism image), suffice to say that the angle of the image content depicts a steeply raked take off requiring all the speed and power, including, of course, the associated oil and petroleum resources of a battleship on steriods.
The equations are nonsensical in this setting; they were wrestled free from tutorials on mathematical sequences, logarithms and integral calculus respectively (L > R) and not necessarily related to high speed travel although the intention of the author is to create a feeling for the world of the hi-tech engineer. The word "Speed" however is moving fast enough to begin disintegrating, thus the trail of shed particles behind it. In a few seconds this entire image may disintegrate. It is already beginning to exhibit signs of instability.

Don't hold your breath though, for the workload prodigeously thrust upon us poor students by the slavemaster teachers at Kingscliff TAFE is enormous. Superheroes have been known to desperately tear their own heads off rather than endure such draconian drudgery.
