Sri Guru

Srila Gour Govinda Swami is Sri Guru. Sri is a special word that effectively means "of the most esteemed value", or the most valuable jewel, if you prefer.

Thus Sri Guru is not just someone who decides that he's guru, Sri Guru is Krsna's mercy personified, krsna krpa sri murti.

Srila Gour Govinda Swami loves Krsna

S rila Gour Govinda Swami spoke at length, daily. His lectures, especially in Bhubaneswar, would stretch from Guru Puja till 11.00 - 11.30 am most days; day after day after wonderful day. A handful of fortunate devotees from the four corners of the globe came to hear.

Whenever His Divine Grace preached about his Radha and Krsna or Sri Caitanya he would become extremely enlivened, energised to the point where he would often roar loudly like some ferocious demigod, of course, no one was afraid of such a beautiful soul, then sometimes, so overcome by emotion and reduced to a tearful state he would call for kirtana. Those fortunate souls comprising the audience were transported to a divine realm, no longer a part of Mother Bhumi.

Times like these saw the beautiful, nectarean love that Srila Gour Govinda Swami feels for his divine Srila Prabhupada and his Lordships overflowing the confines of his enormous heart, cascading via his merciful, tearful glance, flooding into the hearts of the disciples and followers that comprised his audience.

I'm Fine Thanks I'm Drowning

For those who attentively heard the sabda brahman (spiritual sound vibration) radiating like golden, divine, living sunshine from the lotus lips of Srila Gour Govinda Swami, thus drowning us in the nectar of his divine love for Sri Sri Radha Krsna, Srila Prabhupada and the whole parampara, those marathon pravachanas were an unbelievable treat, a gift so rare that one wonders as to how one could be so fortunate as to taste such sublime nectar.

Despite sitting for hours at a time on the hard, marble floor, I never, ever heard one complaint about being uncomfortable, the general mood of the devotees being, conversely, one of excitement as after class they eagerly discussed the topics of the day, for they too were enlivened by their Gurudeva's mood of love, experiencing first hand for themselves the wonderful message of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.


Oh that the whole world could hear and drown in that bejewelled ocean of bubbling mirth and restless waves of pure, sweet emotion!

Let it be known that the teachings of Srila Gour Govinda Swami are not different to those teachings taught by Srila AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada the founder Achyara of ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness), and non-different from the teachings of Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja Goswami, although in more than 25 years of hearing from various teachers I have noticed that although the message is the same the content is leveraged to mean the most to the ability of the audience to absorb said content. Srila Gour Govinda Swami spoke pure nectar as well as setting a perfect example of how to follow the teachings he disseminated. We are joyfully in his debt forever and ardently pray to hear that message of divine love, again and again and again ...

The Message of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu

What is available here at Sevamrta in the teachings delivered to his followers by Srila Gour Govinda Swami is essentially the message of pure, divine, nectarean love that was spread all over the sub-continent by Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu wanted His message of love spread all over the world, to every town and village, and Srila Gour Govinda Swami did so much to assist in this by following the example set by his own Srila Gurupadapadma to achieve just that; Srila Gour Govinda Swami preached Nimai Pandit's message of love in places such as the USA, Europe, Australia, SE Asia ... he far exceeded the order of his Srila Prabhupada to build a temple, translate books, and preach in Bhubaneswar, he brought the names of Caitanya and Krishna to people in the far corners of the earth.
