We have decided to build this simple website for Srila Gour Govinda Swami and to glorify Sri Bhubaneswar and Sri Gadai Giri and for the spiritual pleasure of the devotees, since we have been ever so fortunate as to be included along with the lucky few who were able to sit at the holy, lotus feet of Srila Gour Govinda Swami for an extended period, and hear the wonderful, nectarean Srimad Bhagavatam lectures that his Divine Grace gave on a daily basis at the Krsna Balaram mandir in Nayapalli, Bhubaneswar. Recognising the value of such clear, straightforward spiritual instructions, we wish for these instructions be widely distributed.
Whilst it may be stated that there are already many mp3 lectures available, not to mention books, etc, we find that we may be (dependent upon demand) in a position to be able to give these lectures away for free to all who wish to hear, so we am taking this oppportunity to present free audio lectures to the public whilst it is possible. These lectures have come to us at little and, often, at no cost, by the sweet mercy of our dear friends. Anybody out there who wishes to donate funds to facilitate expanding our ability to provide these lectures, please feel quite welcome to contact us via our contact link at the top or bottom of any page, or contact us personally here in Murwillumbah, if you live locally.
We am not in a position to be able to afford unlimited internet bandwidth and so we are currently providing only a few lectures in mp3 format per month, so that those who really want to listen and perhaps collect these lectures can, if patient, do so with little effort.
We recognise that lectures as mp3s are quite large (12 to 85 mb) and that not everybody has access to broadband internet, so if there is a demand for ogg vorbis files which are half the size of mp3s, and suffer no loss or dimunition in quality, then we shall provide some lectures in ogg vorbis format. We are also providing mp3 lecture files @ 32kbps bitrate. For all lecture downloads, whether mp3 or Ogg, it would be advisable to utilise (an easy to use) download manager such as Getright(US$25.00, AUS$36.35, Eur21.23, £14.37, prices at time of publication of page) or Fresh Download (free), that can resume interrupted downloads.

jet Audio 6 is free and will play ogg vorbis files. It does appear to be a bit of a system hog but functions quite well even on a P2 233mhz system, as long as one does not try to concurrently run other system hogs, ie:Norton Antivirus, etc.
jet Audio can convert various digital audio files to various supported target file formats.

Also, Audacity 1.2.0, a sound file editor, also free, will both play and convert ogg vorbis to mp3 and vice versa, although if you wish to convert and export ogg vorbis to mp3 using Audacity (ie:suitable for use in an mp3 player) you will need to get the lame encoder (LAME3.94, link at bottom of a short page listing a few encoders to download.) When audacity requires the lame encoder it will ask for you to point to it ... a process similar to choosing a download destination, after which audacity will automatically enable the lame encoder. Using Audacity is not a steep learning curve as Audacity is fairly simple and intuitive software. Most software will probably play mp3 files and possibly ogg vorbis too; check the read me on your current software if unsure.
Deliplayer 2 will play numerous file types including mp3 and ogg vorbis files. It has the advantage of being free and does not load your pc up with adware or spyware.

If demand for these lecture downloads is not too great, and we consider that it will not be too great, then we shall possibly provide streaming files in real player format (time permitting and we must admit that trials to this day ...9th Oct 04 ... have not really yeilded file sizes that are less than the original mp3), should anyone so desire, assuming that we can gain the expertise to do so.(That is yet another challenge to confront the "intrepid", teach-yourself-how, web developer.)
If time permits and it seems pertinent to do so, then we may compile some tutorials concerning audio file conversion, as it is easy to recognise that many people may feel somewhat intimidated by such activities when confronted for the first time. However, it is not our intention to continually expand and update this site except for the lecture files and pictures as they become available.
To avoid the problem of download hogs who simply download anything they find that is free, but never actually listen (nor read) we will supply only a few lectures each month and remove these later so that at any time there will be only a few lectures available.
We are happy to leave the titles of previous lectures onsite for some time so that those who regularly download but miss out during any particular month may be able to get copies by personal arrangement. Please bear in mind that we are currently treasurer to Sri Giriraja Govardhana Gaudiya Matha, a part time IT student, a full time single parent of two wonderful teenage monsters, and a "Hare Krishna devotee" who loves to fool around with HTML and JavaScript files, so finding time for everything is always difficult, thus we may not be able to fulfil requests immediately, and maybe not even for weeks at a stretch. Especially, considering that these Srila Gour Govinda Swami pages were built as a functional exercise in HTML table structure, long before we ever heard of XML and XHTML, which are the latest standards in web development, and which determine that this website will at some stage, require a rebuild.
There will probably be times when getting uploads to the site on time will be less than priority to us, but we do hope to be punctual most of the time.
Your servant and well wisher
tarunkrsnadas.
Yes, we realise that the links at the top of the pages break up somewhat when scrolled on a minority of systems (our own included), but it took so much endeavour to put them together that we just haven't the heart to replace them with some other navigation system, just yet. They are, however, quite functional, even if the pictures duplicate ... just make sure to click on the link that changes colour on mouseOver.
