Welcome to the newsletter

Festival '05 draws nearer.

The last week has seen some great programmes:

Report on programmes during the last weeks.

Tuesday 1st of March : The Appearance Day of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Goswami Maharaja and the Disappearance Day of Srila Gour Govinda Swami was well attended by 16 adults and about 4 or 5 children. The mood was good and many devotees hung in for an impromptu discussion regarding the purchasing of a house to use as a bramachari ashram.

Last Sunday, the programme at Dr Tamal's beautiful rural retreat was another well attended function which proved to be a great success with devotees all singing bhajans together in the beautiful glass walled temple overlooking the river. At last count there were about 45 devotees there not counting children.

Siva Ratra was a small, but very sweet programme held at Balarama prabhu and Lilavati didi's home on Tuesday the 8th of March. Reports are of a nice programme. Thanks for your efforts towards giving the devotees the opportunity to chant together.

No more MAJOR festivals till Gaurapurnima, but still plenty of Vaisnava appearance and disappearance days if anyone's keen to hold kirtana.

Families require billeting during the upcoming Hari Katha Festival in April '05.

Subol Krsna prabhu (communications officer for the festival) has kindly requested that I do some follow up on behalf of any devotees needing billeted accommodation during this year's festival.
So far, we have at least seven devotees including one young child from New Zealand who are looking for accommodation with local devotees during the festival. If you have any spare room and facilities, I'm sure that they would be very grateful if your merciful generosity were extended. Remember that not everybody is comfortable with camping out. Especially older devotees. Next year the festival might be in New Zealand. Surely someone can assist some devotees to have a "comfortable" floor to sleep on during our festival of brotherhood and love.
Please contact tarunkrsnadas if you can assist. NB: If replying via the formmail, please include your name and, at least your email address so that we can tell who's contacting us.

Who'll be here for Gaura Purnima ???

It has come to my attention that Srila Gurudeva has requested that 1000 western devotees come to Navadwipa for the parakrama this year. Whilst some devotees (myself included), are in no position to comply with this request, especially since Srila Gurudeva has requested the Murwillumbah devotees to donate the money that they normally spend on travelling to the Temple Building Project, but no one ever let guruseva get in the way of a good parikrama before so Srila Gurudeva's request raises the question of just how many devotees will be in Murwillumbah for our local Gaura Purnima festival.

Again, if you are going to be here, it would be great if you could contact tarunkrsnadas as plans for our own, local programmme should be geared towards a venue suitable for our numbers. NB: If replying via the formmail, please include your name and, at least your email address so that we can tell who's contacting us.

Garage Sale at 7 Nullum Street to raise funds for Festival '05

Due to the late deployment of this newsletter and the looming ever larger Festival approaching at lightspeed, as well as the Easter weekend soon, it is hoped that we can hold a garage sale at the home of tarunkrsnadas on the weekend of Sat 19th and Sun 20th March (very soon). There is hardly enough things donated to the garage sale as yet to warrant holding the event but if devotees are willing to donate their unwanted goodies, we can have a great sale; one persons junk is another's inspiration. Please call tarunkrsnadas and donate generously. If you have nothing that you don't want then please donate something that you do want and maybe you can purchase it back again.
If no one is here best leave things in the little courtyard, but please try to be considerate as this is a commercial premises 9am to 5pm weekdays.
