Empty Temple – Empty Heart
Weeks, Maybe Months
A little while ago, weeks, maybe months, I ran into a devotee that I hadn’t seen for some time, weeks, maybe months. I stopped to converse. It turned out that neither I nor my devotee associate had been to the temple in weeks, maybe months.
Are We Missing Something?
The devotee told me that there was something missing at the temple. I said that it is love that is missing. The devotee agreed.
I pointed out that the problem was not with the other devotees who attend or manage the temple, but that the problem lies with us: WE are the ones who lack love. It is us who need to stand up for a dishing out for our lack of love.
Love Resides WITHIN the Heart
Love makes Her home within the heart, not outside. It’s what goes on INSIDE OUR HEART that makes the difference.
Who Knows Who They All Really Are – Love Them Anyway
They Are Already Very Dear To Sri Sri Guru and Krsna
Waiting for everybody else to become “perfect” before accepting them is simply forestalling the inevitable – sooner or later we have to create a loving kunja within OUR heart; a respite that is a comfortable place for Sri Sri Radha-Krsna to rest; relaxed and encouraged. A place where They feel inspired; a place They call home.
Whether you go to the temple or not, it’s necessary to realise the truth. It is Srila Gurudeva’s love that brought you to Krsna; it’s your love that will keep you there. It’s Radha-Krsna’s love that makes anything possible. We need to contribute our love to this ocean of nectar, this is the best service we can do.
Degrees of Reality
How you express that love is up to you. Humble chanting with love is a good idea. Humble congregational chanting with love is a good idea.
Accepting other devotees as your esteemed teacher is a great idea. Sharing your loving heart with or without words, and without desiring recognition for your caring actions is wonderful. Do it for Krsna.
Krsna will reveal Himself
Eventually you’ll need to associate with a community, to test your level of purity, to test your own recognition of reality; to see if you clearly understand who and what you really are. Try to realise how much love you DON’T have, so that you begin to crave love, to long for love, to cry for love. The more you cry for love, the more Krsna, love personified, will reveal Himself within your heart.
We Are Not Alone
We are all overwhelmed to some degree or other by the association of others. The “faults” you see in others are probably there because they are associating with you. Love them anyway. Surely you owe them that much for their association. What if we all stayed away? Would Gurudeva be pleased by that? Serve your Gurudeva with love.
Pride is for Those Who Don’t Know Who They Are
It’s your love – give it freely and humbly. Kindness, humility, tolerance and honest love: this is the way to offenceless bhakti.
Sri Bhaktidevi ki jaya!
